Job Summary
Under moderate supervision, delivers mail and supplies at various Metro locations.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Sorts, weighs, bundles, and labels Metro mail
  • Operates Metro vehicle to pick up and deliver mail and supplies to various Metro locations
  • Loads and unloads mail and supplies to and from Metro vehicle
  • Records beginning and ending mileage in logbook
  • Operates inserting and labeling machine
  • Uses pushcart in delivering mail within headquarters building
  • Contributes to ensuring that the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policies and programs of Metro are carried out

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • General office practice and procedures
  • Vehicle operation rules and regulations
  • Safety rules to be observed

Skill in (defined as the proficient manual, verbal, or mental utilization of data, people, or things)
  • Sorting, weighing, bundling, transporting, and distributing mail and supplies
  • Communicating effectively with others
  • Interacting professionally with various levels of Metro employees and outside representatives

Ability to (defined as a present competence to perform an observable behavior or produce an observable result)
  • Safely operate Metro vehicles
  • Follow oral and written instructions
  • Lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds Do repetitive bending, stooping, and lifting
  • Travel to offsite locations within a reasonable timeframe
  • Read, write, speak, and understand English
Minimum Qualifications
A combination of education and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Additional experience, as outlined below, may be substituted for required education on a year-for-year basis. A typical combination includes:

Certifications/Licenses/Special Requirements
  • Possession of a Forklift Certification/License preferred; training will be provided once hired.
  • Valid California Class C Driver License
