Job Summary
Under moderate supervision, provides clerical and administrative support, including typing, printing, updating, and maintaining complex Metro-wide and departmental records and office equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintains and updates complicated documents including files, purchasing records, rosters, and other departmental records
  • Answers telephone, responds to inquiries, and provides information to Metro representatives, outside vendors, and the general public
  • Types, prints, scans, and distributes data and documentation, including letters, memoranda, contracts, cards, forms, and reports using appropriate computer and office equipment
  • Produces media, including CDs (compact discs), DVDs (digital video discs), and flash drives, as necessary
  • Composes routine correspondence in relation to department practices and procedures; proofreads work
  • Prepares and distributes mail packages and
  • Maintains office equipment and supplies
  • Provides guidance and assistance to new or entry-level employees
  • May verify purchasing and payroll information for completeness and accuracy and corrects errors
  • May schedule appointments and act as office/department receptionist
  • Contributes to ensuring that the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policies and programs of Metro are carried out

  • Operate office equipment, including personal computers, computer terminals, calculators, copiers, scanners, and disc burners
  • Deal tactfully and effectively with the public and other Metro staff
  • Follow oral and written instructions
  • Read, write, speak, and understand English
Minimum Qualifications
A combination of education and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Additional experience, as outlined below, may be substituted for required education on a year-for-year basis. A typical combination includes:

  • None Required

Experience
  • Two years of relevant experience performing responsible clerical and public contact duties

Certifications/Licenses/Special Requirements
  • Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 30 pounds may be required for some assignments
  • Some assignments may require a valid California Class C Driver License
